Vagabond of the Month for April: Punit Patel
Month you were born in:
Where you are originally from and/or where you live now:
I am originally from Kenya (I know, I’m the slowest Kenyan) and I currently live in Easton, MA
What days/times you typically train at VBC:
Over my 6 years at Vagabond I’ve trained at different times (7:15 am, 9 am, noon class) but for the last couple of years I train at 5:30 am with some awesome Vagabonds who push me to get better daily. And my early morning coaches are amazing.
My proudest accomplishment(s) in my training:
With the help of my Vagabond community and amazing coaches I have too many accomplishments to call out but the ONE I’m most proud of has been DISCIPLINE. Vagabond has taught me how to be disciplined in life, focus on the positive aspects of life and family, have fun, laugh more, do good things for others. This philosophy has created a clear mind for me. During complex situations in life I always reflect on being disciplined to what I believe in and to solve any problem. Breaking complicated matters into simple pieces, similar to the workouts we do leads to successful outcomes. Being at Vagabond you realize that the power of a community is the most important thing and I always try to transfer that learning to my work and social life.
What’s the best thing about Vagabond:
Kevin O’Malley (and of course Katie O’Malley)!!!! I know you probably think I’m kidding but honestly his passion for getting people to the gym, staying healthy, eating healthy, making sure people don’t hurt themselves, keeping a tight knit community over so many years and making sure the nucleus of Vagabond stays in tact to continue to provide a place for all of us to come for 60 minutes out of our day and focus on the most important aspect of our lives, our health! This is what makes Vagabond special. I look forward to being here for a very long time and to continue to be disciplined to my health and life goals.
My motto over the years has become “slow is smooth, and smooth is fast” and I strive to stay disciplined to that.
